No, you're reading so much about "explosive smartphones" is not due to a new feature of self-destruction of mobile. Samsung is living a nightmare because so many cases of fires your Galaxy Note 7, but now some users have reported that their iPhone have exploded, and Apple has starting an investigation on the matter.
During the past few weeks they have been reported three cases of iPhones that have overheated and exploded basically due to high temperatures. The models in question are an iPhone 7, an iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 6 Plus. However a new case has come to light and Apple says they are already taking sides in the matter. They have begun an investigation into these events.
The explosive new iPhone is another model 6 Plus, belonging to Yvette Estrada, who told ABC30 he heard a strange whistling in the middle of the night and then a "pop", which was followed by fire coming out of the terminal screen.
Estrada and her husband called the fire department after having thrown the iPhone the bathroom sink to prevent further damage (and thankfully not burned hands in the process). Apple says it is investigating two related to an iPhone 6 Plus cases: Yvette Estrada and a mobile student whose burned as he carried in his backpack.
CBS SAN FRANCISCO
GLASSBORO, N.J. (CBS SF) — Apple is investigating after a New Jersey college student said his iPhone caught on fire in class.
Darin Hlavaty claims his iPhone 6 Plus spontaneously burst into flames while he sat in class at Rowan University, causing his classroom to be evacuated.
“I flinched upwards because it was burning my leg, as I flinched up I noticed it was smoking and I threw the phone on the ground and it lit up into flames,” he told CBS2. “I kicked it down and made the fire go out.”
Hlavaty was left with a hole in his jeans pocket from the fire.
There have been complaints made about iPhones bursting into flames while charging, but Hlavaty says his phone, which he had for about six months, wasn’t even turned on at the time.
Last month, Samsung suspended sales of their Galaxy Note 7 after reports that battery issues were causing the phones to catch fire.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) --For Yvette Estrada, it was a harsh wake-up call after she says a flash followed by flames jolted her out of bed. It was caused by her iPhone 6 plus that was charging on the dresser.
"I heard a sizzling, then we heard the pop and the whole fire was coming out of the screen."
Estrada said the explosion started a small fire and her husband put it out by throwing the phone in a sink.
"He put water on it and told me to call 911."
By the time firefighters showed up, which was around 3:00 a.m., there was just ash, debris, and a melted phone.
Estrada said it got so hot it damaged the dresser, a pair of glasses, and two apple watch stands.
"What if this would have been underneath my pillow or if I was on the phone? My face would be burned."
This is the second iPhone explosion in a week. The first was reported by a student, Darin Hlavaty, on the east coast. He said the same model started burning in his back pocket before it blew up.
"Right as class was starting, my phone started smoking in my pocket. It was a fire."
Samsung had similar problems with the nNote 7 recently which prompted a nationwide recall.
As for the iPhones, Apple said it's looking into both cases.
Estrada said she only had her phone for three months and Fresno Fire believes it was faulty.
"Hopefully they can fix this and they can compensate my new phone or do something for me because they have to do right," said Estrada.
Estrada said the worst part of all this is not the phone, it's replaceable, she said it is the pictures on it. The memories of her kids and a recent promotion are all lost and they were not backed up.
Estrada has talked with Apple said the company offered her a new stand for her watch, a charger, and a free replacement for the six plus-- however, if she wants to upgrade to a seven, she would have to pay for it.
